Mailbox Key and Keyhole
Several of the homeowners have asked the Board about their mailbox keys getting stuck in their mailbox keyhole and it has become very difficult to open their mailbox. We reached out to the USPS. The USPS’s responsibility is to provide new homeowners with keys and to replace keys if lost or stolen. The maintenance of each homeowner’s mailboxes is their responsibility.
We thought about how we could help the homeowners and ended up purchasing a multi-purpose, silicon lubricant. The Board tried it by spraying it into their mailbox keyhole and found it to be very effective.
If any homeowner has this issue, if you come to the office during office hours, we will spray your mailbox keyhole for you. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9a-2p.
